Ocean Lighting had the privilege of being a part of lighting the Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial wall, designed by Slovenian architect Grega Vezjak.

Working with Electrical Consultants Peter McBride and Kate Macdonald from GHD, the challenge was to provide discrete RGBW grazing light to capture the engraved names of the 185 victims of the 2011 earthquake. The luminaires were to be located in a ground channel at the wall's base, which is also a designated flood zone from the adjacent Avon River.

The luminaires needed to be high output but with no mains voltage possible in the channel we developed a custom low voltage version of the Luxima Aqua M50 submersible IP68 luminaire in conjunction with Force 12 DMX drivers which could be remotely located up to 30m away in the streetside cabinets.

DMX scene control was via a Pharos controller to enable full RGBW displays when required.
